History
Our story begins with a passion for creating healthy marriages, strong families, and empowering leaders.
Revs. Jerry Angelo and Kate Angelo are the Co-Founders of Vanguard Marriage and Family Advocates that serves Marriage Minute and The Prayer Initiative in their hometown of southwest Missouri. They work with several businesses, community leaders, and faith-based organizations locally and around the country including our friends at National Marriage Week, National Day of Prayer, Family Research Council, Focus on the Family, and they are affiliates with Family Life as well. They are also both credentialed ministers with the General Council of the Assemblies of God.
Through their Community Marriage Initiative, Jerry and Kate are both dedicated to creating a movement that impacts culture to honor, inspire, and empower marriages and families in the community through teaching, training, coaching, and events. They are continually seeking out leaders in local communities to cultivate leadership and equip them with resources along with the local church for the service of marriage and family.
Jerry and Kate regularly speak at various local and national venues. They have also been featured on various podcasts and media as well as TV and radio broadcast programming like Bott Radio Network, American Family Radio, as well as the FamilyLife Today Christian radio broadcast.
Jerry has authored books and writing projects including Forsaken. Kate is a best-selling author and has written books including: Forsaken, Driving Force, Hunting the Witness, Christmas in the Crosshairs, Vanishing Legacy, Fireline, and others.
Primary Goals
- To strengthen and encourage marriage and two parent families through prayer and marriage initatives
- Increase the marriage rate, but also help to reduce the divorce rate in local communities
- Showing people there is hope for struggling marriages
- Identifing, inspiring, and supporting faith leaders
- Meeting with local leaders about various initiatives
- Educating the public on marriage resources
- Host Events such as: Missouri Prayerfest, Business, Leader, & Pastor Briefings, EQ Training, Date Nights
- Providing local businesses , leaders, and churches with marriage resources
- Helping families in MO, OK, TX and many others states
- Connecting local DHS, courts, and judges with faith-based marriage and parenting resources
