History
Our story begins with a passion for creating healthy marriages, strong families, and empowering leaders.
We are Revs. Jerry Angelo and Kate Angelo, and we’re from Southwest Missouri. We’re also the founders of Vanguard Marriage and Family Advocates that serves the ministry of Marriage Minute and The Prayer Initiative. We work with several businesses, community leaders, and faith-based organizations including our friends at Marriage Initiative, National Marriage Week, National Day of Prayer, American Family Association, Family Research Council, Focus on the Family, and FamilyLife as well as many others.
Through our Community Marriage Initiative, we are dedicated to creating a movement that impacts the culture to honor, inspire, and empower marriages and families in the community through teaching, training, coaching, and events. We regularly speak at various local and national venues. We have also spoken on multiple podcasts and local media as well as national TV & radio broadcast programming including Bott Radio Network, American Family Radio, Washington Watch, Truth & Liberty, and also featured on Focus on the Family as well as the FamilyLife Today Christian radio broadcast.
We’re also authors of multiple books projects including Forsaken which was our first writing project as a joint testimonial. Since then, Kate has become an award-winning and best selling author. We’re credentialed ministers with the General Council of the Assemblies of God. We have five wonderful children, and enjoy spending time boating on Table Rock Lake.
Primary Goals
- To strengthen and encourage marriage and two parent families through prayer and marriage initatives
- Increase the marriage rate, but also help to reduce the divorce rate in local communities
- Showing people there is hope for struggling marriages
- Identifing, inspiring, and supporting faith leaders
- Meeting with local leaders about various initiatives
- Educating the public on marriage resources
- Host Events such as: Missouri Prayerfest, Business, Leader, & Pastor Briefings, EQ Training, Date Nights
- Providing local businesses , leaders, and churches with marriage resources
- Helping families in MO, OK, TX and many others states
- Connecting local DHS, courts, and judges with faith-based marriage and parenting resources
